He is considered to be one of the geniuses in pottery world of Japan as he does everything from digging clay from the land to finish with wood firing in anagama kiln. His pieces are wild, yet sophisticated pieces of art having texture of original clay with ashes from wood melt into it.
He uses reduction firing in a process of firing where he tries to leave colors onto his pieces. His pieces are so called Yakishime which does not have glazes on though some wood ashes fall onto pieces which melts as natural glaze.
