Akari Karugane graduated from the Craft and Industrial Design at Musashino Art University and completed the Lab Course at the Tajimi City Institute of Ceramic Design. Currently based in Tajimi, Gifu, she actively exhibits her work both in Japan and internationally. Her creative process centers on highlighting the warmth and richness of clay, alongside its contrasting delicate textures. By embracing the natural elements of clay and the transformations that occur through firing, she brings her vision to life through vessels, jars, and wall-mounted ceramic pieces.
